The White House, Dorking

The White House, a Grade II Listed Building in Dorking, was originally the entrance building to the Dorking Union Workhouse which was completed in 1841 and later converted into an infirmary. In the 20th century most of the workhouse was demolished and the entrance building, which was used as a nursery school, was all that remained. Baxter Studio was appointed to undertake the detailed design of the building to create five townhouses. The completed units are comfortable two-storey contemporary homes that respect the historic architectural features of the building.
