iQ Hammersmith, London

iQ Hammersmith is a student accommodation building which sits on the site of the former Hammersmith Palais. The building has student amenity spaces and 418 student bedrooms located over nine floor levels. Baxter Studio was appointed to reconfigure the internal layout of the building to provide additional studio apartments and to redesign the student amenity spaces.  A new balcony was inserted into the double-height atrium to provide an enclosed games room and café at ground floor level and a study area on the first floor. A new row of study booths, a communal dining space, a multi-purpose studio for dance and yoga, a screening room and a vending area were provided on the first floor as well as a new gym on the ground floor, and new laundry and welfare facilities in the basement.
